About the podcast

All episodes are available for free, with ad-free episodes available for Wondery+ subscribers. In 1978, Rodney Alcala won a date on the popular TV show, The Dating Game. What no one knew was that he was a prolific serial killer in the middle of a cross-country murder spree. In this six-part series, co-hosts Tracy Pattin (Hollywood & Crime) and Stephen Lang (Avatar, Don’t Breathe) take listeners on an unbelievable journey into Alcala’s twisting secret life. He hid behind normal jobs as a typesetter at a prominent newspaper and a summer camp counselor. How did this predatory monster fool employers, prison psychiatrists, and parole boards — all while committing heinous crimes from coast to coast? And how did a one-time appearance as a game show contestant help lead to his capture? From the makers of Dirty John, Dr. Death, and Young Charlie, learn the story of the most famous serial killer you’ve never heard of - The Dating Game Killer.

Vanvittig historie!

Okay podcast, I feel like it lost me a bit after the first few episodes, and I wasn’t as interest in the last ones.. it’s pretty much “just” a description of Alcala’s crimes and case, and I prefer more investigative true crime podcasts, where new information is uncovered or something like that.

Good true crime podcast! A bit overproduced but quite like how they use several different storytelling techniques such as narration or sometimes ‘act out’ the story as seen from the POV of the killer! It makes it captivating! The first two episodes has me captivated but then it became a bit repetitive. Overall great though, and just an insane story!

This story is just so nuts! Is a great example of how the US jurisdiction system of bail and I don’t know what is totally bonkers!

Interesting podcast about a serial killer I knew nothing about!! The episodes are all spread out but feels like there is the right amount of episodes as they give equal time to everything. Good crime podcast
