Akimbo: A Podcast from Seth Godin
2018 . Society & Culture, Business

image8

On face value, Akimbo should only be interesting to marketing professionals, and yet the content covered here is much broader and more accessible. Seth delivers a constant stream of wisdom in a voice which somehow manages to both relax and engage the listener. If Akimbo has one failing, it is that its host knows how intelligent he is, and this results in the content sometimes flirting with pretentiousness. If you can work through this, though, you’ll find a lot to love, and a great deal to learn from.

F*ck It, I'll Start Tomorrow
2021 . Action Bronson

image10

Autobiographical books - at least for me - have the potential to be mind-numbing. This book has no such issue: Action’s phraseology opens a door to his brain, and each passage feels like you’re living his memories, feeling what he feels along the way. I’d gone in thinking this book would be about fitness (and particularly Bronson’s weight loss), but found something even more educational. Couldn’t recommend more.

Mind-bending, perfectly acted, and endlessly rewatchable. This film gives you more and more with each viewing.

Spider-Man: Far From Home
2019 . Action, Adventure, Science Fiction

There’s nothing wrong with this film as such, but it didn’t manage to envoke any emotion in me! For a character I loved so much growing up, I found I was surprised how little this film stirred me.

The Dark Knight
2008 . Drama, Action, Crime, Thriller

Nothing short of iconic. Beautiful atmosphere and production, brilliant acting, engaging story - what’s not to like?

Extraction
2020 . Drama, Action, Thriller

My abiding memory of this film is exceptional action and a well-acted performance by Hemsworth. Ask me to remember the plot, and I’d have much more trouble!

Knives Out
2019 . Comedy, Drama, Crime, Mystery

Very well-made film, a couple of fascinating oddball characters, and a plot you can’t guess the direction of!

Joker
2019 . Crime, Thriller, Drama

Lived in my brain for months after first watching! So atmospheric and absorbing that you completely forgot it’s actors on a screen.
