The Joe Rogan Experience
2018 . Health & Fitness, Business, Comedy, Society & Culture, Sports, Technology, News

image6

I know about a quarter of the guests Joe has on so I haven't listened to it extensively but I've mostly enjoyed what I have listened to. I enjoy the conversational nature of the interviews. They make you feel like you're sitting in the 3rd chair and engage you for the most part.

Breaking Bad
2008 . Crime, Drama, Thriller

image10

Clearly one of the best shows to ever grace the small screen, Breaking bad gets you invested in its characters through careful and strategic character development and marvelous writing. The excellent cinematography and clever sound design enhance the experience and by the time you finish the show you have lived with and are fully invested in the characters and their individual stories. Add to that a successful prequel and a tie up movie that does not disappoint and you can see why Vince Gilligan is a master of One.

Naruto Shippūden
2007 . Animation, Action & Adventure

You know that meme of the horse drawing that that starts out great and detailed on one side and fades into being stickman-y and bad on the other side. That. As far as Shonen goes as a sub-genre Naruto is one of the better ones, with unique techniques and interesting fights but by the end it feels DBZ-ish with meaningless capless power for the mere sake of desperately trying to convince you the stakes are "HiGhEr tHaN tHey'VE eVeR bEeN" and personally... I stopped caring about the fights. The emotional beats are there though so you at least care about some of the characters till the end. But IMO everything after the Pein Saga could be better.

Invincible
2021 . Animation, Action & Adventure

"What if super heroes but Bad" has become its own sub-genre, and if you're tired of it that's very understandable. But this superheroes but bad, is good.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
2021 . Action & Adventure, Drama

image8

This show set its job out and did it well. How do you pass on the Captain America mantle to a black man in the current USA? What does that mean for the shield and all it symbolizes? This show does not shy away from the difficulty of that the answers to those difficult questions in ways that feel thorough and ultimately gives Sam Wilson his own American dream to stand up for. Although this show did have its problems I enjoyed the efforts it made to qualify Sam Wilson as the New Cap!

WandaVision
2021 . Action & Adventure, Comedy, Drama

A welcome chapter in the MCU book. A daring and boundary pushing format which I think is almost always valuable, when done with intention. A bit of a house of cards though, in that too many mysteries were built up and in the end there was no way to deliver satisfying answers to all of them.

Great visuals. Amazing concept (I think). The most Nolan Nolan Movie there is, and that's not necessarily a good thing.

Interstellar
2014 . Adventure, Drama, Science Fiction

Probably my favorite movie ever. An amazing blend of emotional weight and intellectual stimulation carried through by a expert amount of imagination. It's great.

Parasite
2019 . Comedy, Thriller, Drama

This is one of those movies you have to watch multiple times to peel layers. Each experience of this movie makes me think and reflect and I'm grateful for it.
